The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Honourable Nkechinyere Ugwu has expressed gratitude to the governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, and his wife, Her Excellency Barrister Dr. Chioma Uzodimma, for their support in the sustenance of her Empowerment programme.
The social activist and celebrated empowerment aficionado, said that while the inspiration for her skills and educational empowerment in Ideato nation especially, came from her late parents, especially her father Chief Engineer Godwin Ugwu, who, in his lifetime devoted a reasonable part of his resources to equipping young people and the vulnerable with skills, gifts and monetary empowerments, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and his wife have been very helpful in ensuring that she sustains this important ritual in the last seven years..
According to her; "My boss, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, and his beautiful and kind wife, Her Excellency Barrister Dr Chioma Uzodimma, have in no small measure supported me and other appointees of this administration, especially, the commissioners, to always reach out to the underprivileged in our communities and our larger constituencies, every year, and this has been very helpful in sustaining my personal passion for improving the lives of my people, especially, the people of Ideato nation. "
The 7th edition of Nkechinyere Ugwu's Empowerment scheme is scheduled to be held this Saturday, 14th of February, 2026 at her father's compound in Ogwume, Ideato South LGA of Imo State. Hundreds of skilled labourers, artisans, women and youths are expected to go home with some empowerment items, which include tailoring machines, bags of rice, baking equipment, etc.
